UK and European Phone Service Provider charge UK Mobile phone users up to £5 a minute for calls to directory enquiries
Phone users in UK and Europe have been left disgusted following charges up to £5 for collecting a single number from directory enquiries.
The cost to the phone user in UK increases further if customers agree to be connected to the number, as each extra minute costs £5.
After a number of disgusted UK phone users complained to the Citizens Advice, the alarm was raised.
The mobile phone giant O2 has set its minimum charge for calling directory enquiry numbers at £5 which is an increase of £2
The cost via BT when it was monopoly of the national directory service which ended in 2003 was 20-25p.
The connection fee used by O2 could possible make the cost of a 3-6min call about £25.
Calling from home landlines can also be expensive so make sure you check with your service provider.
Further to the directory enquiries progress in 2003 which was ordered by the then telecoms regulator Oftel despite huge misgivings among consumers.
Oftel was pushing to bring in a raft of exciting and cheap rivals – but instead produced a wave of confusing and expensive tariffs which most UK phone uses are currently very unhappy with.
Thanks to mobile phone internet, most UK and European phone user have switched to the free services, which can be accessed from smartphones or tablet pc. However, the main disadvantage is that UK mobile phone users normally run out of battery live on-th-Go.
